Every Summer Has A Story.

There's gotta be somebody for me out there.

What's funny about saying that, the Summer and the Story and everything,

is that last year,
the Summer's story was about trying to get to know him,
and this year,
it's about trying to get over him.

it's funny how much changes in a year,
and the year is about to start again,
what plot twist is coming?

Here's a secret or two about what might change.

I'm scared of not being asked to the dances (call me lame. I just don't want to feel like I'm back tracking from this past year).
I'm scared every time that I work podium that he will come in with a date.
I'm scared that Stevie will move in with Russell and forget about me.
I'm scared that Connor will go on his mission and come back and not even remember me because it feels like we only just became friends.
I'm scared that Justyn and I will become estranged again.
I'm scared that I won't ever see Kristen, or Eliza, or Amy, or any of the other seniors again.
and the list goes on.

Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead.

A sonnet for English [and now, I'm thinking in iambs]:

The Remnants of Romance

We saw, we met, we laughed, we sang along
with inhabitions keeping us in line
we got closer and we did nothing wrong
it wasn't long until I called him mine.
But through the smiles and all the gentle touch
a lover's quarrel, a heart being defied
Despite what he said, neither were enough
The honest truth: To both of us he lied.

Through tears with which our eyes would always fill,
one year has nearly come and gone again
apologize: Perhaps one day he will,
it took a long time for our hearts to mend.
Most of my naietivete is gone,
what, in his mind, could truly have gone on?

Yes, I realize it's kind of terrible.  At the same time, though... With nostalgia and all, it was good to let out.

It's not where you take things from, it's where you take them to.

Well that took a lot longer than it should have.

But it's fine.

What do you think?

A shoutout to my best girlfriends:

Stevie, Justyn, Kelsey..... Many more.  But for specific reasons those are there.

Knowing how to be solitary is central to the art of loving.

If my life were a book, these are what the chapter titles would be (size referring to exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution) :

Chapter One:  Colorado.

Chapter Two:  Moving to the Mormon State.

Chapter Three:  Spencer, and Growing Up.

Chapter Four:  Metal to tears, and how the Sparks Flew.

Chapter Five:  Summer.

Chapter Six:  Losing Faith.

Chapter Seven:  Independence.

And that's it.  You notice that Chapters One and Two included thirteen years, but Chapters Three through Seven were a little over one?

This is the time of my life that I will always remember.  I'm not sure if that excites me or if that scares me.

People, "the person", is a strange creature indeed.

Love, StarFish.
