An Anniversary, of sorts.

Do you remember your first kiss? Have you had your first kiss? Was it everything you wanted it to be? Do you remember it fondly? Or if you haven't had one, what's your big dream? How do you imagine it?

Two years ago, today, a boy texted a girl. They liked each other, this boy and this girl.
The girl was young, younger by about a year and a half, and she was naive. Naive and innocent.
So she biked to her favorite park, it was eight o'clock at night, he was there waiting.
So they talked, they laughed, it got cold, they sat together, he put his arms around her because she was shivering.
But she wasn't shivering too badly.
The rest is history. Well, just the middle part, the part that's hard to say with words and makes me blush.
But when it got really dark, and when it was past time to go home, they said goodnight and goodbye,
then spent a few extra stolen moments.
I rode home on my bicycle, I didn't even notice riding through sprinklers and laughed when I realized I was all wet.
I had a big, goofy grin on my face the rest of the night.
This time, two years ago, I was still awake, texting that boy, still on cloud nine from my first kiss.

You know, it was sweet. He was sweet, that night, that week. I wouldn't call him sweet after that week, but that week, he was sweet, and I couldn't have asked for a better first kiss.

Two years later, I'm not as innocent. I'm not as naive. I'm a bit more experienced, I'm a better biker. I've learned a lot, but I've also forgotten a lot. I don't miss him, Blaze I mean. But I miss the young love, my first love, even if it was very bad for me and myself and it took a long time to take out the poison.
I miss... I miss.
I don't know anything. It's been two years and I still don't know anything,
how will I make it alone?

Anyway. Two years ago, I had my first kiss. It's been two long, short years. I remember that day.
Do you?

love always, laura elizabeth.

For well you know it's a fool who plays it cool.

Trying to find the right words to say is like trying to find something that's really hard to do.  And then you don't even make sense.  Here goes.

In my head, if you had been there, I wouldn't have broken down and cried and told the whole sob story and I wouldn't have told everyone but Chloe to leave me alone and don't look at me because you would have hugged me.  Also, in my head, you've heard all the cute songs I love and you know just how to treat me.  In my head, tonight you would have kissed me.

In my head, you snuck out just now and I walked out the front door and you held me until I got positive about going to Colorado tomorrow.  In my head, you made me not dread the moment I turn out the light and think about last Summer and then sleep and wake up and have to go to Colorado and leave everyone for a week.  In my head, when I get back, we spend every day together, enjoying the last week of Summer.

In my head, you didn't go on a date last night.  You asked me on the date and we had a grand time and then I wouldn't have even cried tonight because I would have had you.

In reality, we talk a lot about hanging out, but it never happens.

In reality, you had a lifeguarding party.

In reality, you don't read my blog or listen to my music [unless I tell you to].

In reality, I told you basically what happened and now you're asking me if I miss him or the feeling and I'm feeling so stupid to tell you the feeling because what if he finds out it's because I want the feeling with him?

In reality, I don't actually make much sense.

In reality, I am being totally negative about going to Colorado tomorrow.  I need to just face that I am going and I need to make myself believe I'll have a good time because I will.

In reality, I need to re-sheet my bed.
[in reality, I always blog when I need to do the above.]

Also, I feel like I need to say something about me being so lucky to live where I do, because it gives me such amazing friends.  Some have friends that are snooty and rude and aren't true friends and it reminds me that I have the best friends in the world.  Please don't forget me this week.

I think you should have kissed me .... Actually, I think you should have came tonight and then kissed me.

love laura.

p.s. i love owls and maybe you too.

Now that that landmark's passed...

One year ago today...

The following poem was written earlier.
Before I got cheered up, obviously.

Nostalgia.
what wasn't felt at five months
comes back twice at a year.
a soul undeserving,
a tear too often cried
due to the ability of life that
changes faster than we know.
"it's all for the best"
Yes, God gets us through,
the suffering turns to achievement,
but not everyone forgets that
God sent it to us first.

Of course, I was able to get over it.
It's been a year.
I know I'm over it.
I didn't spend all day thinking about it.
[neither did he, I'm sure.]
[I actually doubt he knows what today is.]
[but it's fine.]
I've made new friends,
I've moved on,
Life goes on.
I'm done with him,
because he is no improvement in life.
I don't need him.
Whether I have another summer romance this year
or not,
At least I know that I am independent enough
to not.
Thank you to everyone who has helped me.
I'm sorry to everyone who has helped me.
This summer will be different.

However...
I never got a hug today.
Which made me sad.
But I'm still independent.  No worries.

Love, Laura.

"Tell your new girl I say good luck."

His latest memoir, on the twenty-third--
"We had our first kiss (:"
If only I could warn her.

Maybe she'll have better luck,
hopefully he actually cares for her.
Hopefully she's the only one.

Will she end up with a broken heart?

After a year, he has a new lover.
After a year, I have happiness,
independence,
freedom, and a much better love-
not only for my surroundings
or all my friends
but for myself.

And that, Blaze
is something you never let me have.

And when she hurts like I did,
please tell her I am sorry
that no matter what I could say
she'd still love you anyway.

I do wish you two happiness, the happiness
we will never have
the happiness we fabricated

Your voice was the soundtrack of my summer.

I got a reminder on my phone from forever ago today.  It was about Blaze's dad's passing fifteen (?) years ago today.  I texted him, and said I was sorry.  But he got angry with me.  No joke.  "Don't you know how to leave me alone, did you think I wanted to be reminded?"  etc.  I guess that's what I get for trying to be nice.  After going back and forth, with me trying to show I am trying to be nice, I got tired of him swearing at me and getting all angry so I said, "You are just as charming as you were when I first met you."  And didn't reply after that.

I think basically, the thing I am most sorry for, is that he didn't have a strong father figure to teach him his rights and wrongs.  Like for instance, it's wrong to play two girls at the same time.

But I know now that I never deserved that.  And if he was going to do what he did, he doesn't deserve me.  He gets mad when I try to be nice, he gets mad when I get mad.  There is no winning.  So, even though I gave up on him a long time ago, I will not text him again.  Even if it's to say I'm sorry about his dad because now I know he can twist that into something rude that I did to him.

I am done with him.

And by extension, boys.
At least for a while.

Boys, be nice to girls.

Girls, be nice to boys.  ...But don't believe EVERYTHING they say.

Love, Starfish.
